The tutorial map is part of the free RISK experience. Simply start a single player game, select the tutorial map (based on the classic map) and start the game. You will be guided through all steps needed to play RISK!
Our RISK uses the official rules of the game with options to customize the experience to how you like to play. Here's the top level rundown
- The goal is to take over the entire map and defeat all other players. To Globally Dominate
- Each players turn is broken into 3 phases: Deploy > Attack > Fortify
- Each turn you are given troops to "Deploy" onto territories you own
- You can put them all in one spot or spread them around
- You can only attack other territories from adjacent (ones that share a border) ones
- You can only attack if you have more than 1 troop. Attacking with at least 3 + the 1 to stay behind is recommended
- Attacking players roll 1 die per attacking player in groups of 3
- Defending player roll 1 die for each defending player in groups of 2
- Attacker can have advantage if rolling 3 die against 2
- BUT the defender has advantage that if the dice are of equal value the defender will in
- 1 troop dies per dice but only a max of 2 can die each round. So if attacker rolls 3 die and 3 of them are higher value the defender only loses the 2 players who defended
- You can use Blitz dice attack to resolve the dice battles quickly instead of rolling the dice multiple times
- If you take over a territory in your turn you earn a card
- You can trade sets of 3 cards for more troops during your turn
- You receive a bonus each turn if you control a continent. Which is a group of territories. The bigger the continent the more bonus troops you receive
- You don't have attack or fortify every turn. But you must deploy your troops
- Play against the CPU as much as you like before playing humans
- With custom rules and 50+ maps our RISK game has a lot of variations that take time to learn and master. Remember to have fun and play fair and enjoy yourself
- If you want to play against friends do that in the Play With Friends section and not against other people. This is seen as cheating otherwise and everyone is here for a fair fight
Here's some other resources on how to play RISK which might help:
Tips
- Don't leave too many territories that share a border with other players with 1 troop. It leaves you open to attack. 2 troops are much harder to defeat than just 1
- Use the bottlenecks in the maps to your advantage. You can defend some areas well by securing just two territories
- Attack only if you have superiority, unless absolutely necessary. Suggested minimums are: 4vs1, 5vs2, 6vs3, 8vs4. For larger numbers, attackers=defenders x 1.5 is usually a safe bet
- Sometimes it's more important to take a continent bonus away from another player instead of securing your own one
- Temporary Alliances are a good way to regroup for a few turns, but don't trust your ally. Ever. Remember, if you don't play to win in a ranked game, it's considered a rules violation which can lead to a ban
- With progressive card bonus (where the bonus to trade in increases each time someone trades), wait with trading in cards as long as possible
- Defeat players that have lots of cards in hand, if possible, as you gain their cards if you defeat them
